Privacy statement · Studio Zeedijk
Studio Zeedijk is independent, non-profit radio from Zeedijk 44, Amsterdam. This statement explains what we store about you when you use this website, why, and for how long. It applies to studiozeedijk.nl and the video and audio streams it plays.
1. Listening to the stream or the archive
When you press play we measure how our broadcasts are listened to. This is first-party analytics: we run it ourselves, we do not share it, and we do not use it for advertising or profiling. It works without a cookie banner because it is analytics with minimal impact on your privacy.
While you listen, your browser sends us a short signal every 30 seconds with:
- a random identifier that your browser keeps in its local storage, so that reloads and several tabs count as one listener; it expires after 13 months and is then replaced;
- which broadcast or episode you are playing, and for how long the sound was on;
- player events such as play, pause, buffering and errors, and stream quality figures;
- your browser and device type, and the country your connection comes from;
- a scrambled version of your IP address and browser type that changes every day; the IP address itself is not stored.
If you are signed in, this listening is linked to your account. That lets people who work at the studio see, for example, how many members listened to a show. It is never shown per person.
After 90 days we remove the browser details and the scrambled address from these records. After 25 months we delete the raw records altogether. What remains are per-broadcast totals such as the number of listeners, the peak, and the average listening time.
2. Page statistics
We use Vercel Web Analytics to count page views and a few events such as starting the live stream. It uses no cookies and no identifier in your browser; visitors are counted with a hash that changes daily. We record only the name of the show and the date with these events.
3. Your account
If you create an account we store your e-mail address, the name you enter, your saved items and preferences, and the shows or episodes you take part in. Hosts, crew and guests also have a public profile as part of the programme information. Push notifications and the newsletter are only sent after you switch them on, and you can switch them off at any time.
4. Contact, applications and donations
What you send us through the contact, volunteer and show-application forms is stored so that we can reply and follow up. Donations are handled by our payment provider; we receive the confirmation and the details you entered on our form.
5. Who processes this data
Our website and database run on Vercel and Supabase, our video and audio are delivered through Bunny.net, and we send e-mail through Resend. These companies process data on our instructions and do not use it for their own purposes.
6. Why we may do this
Listening and page statistics rest on our legitimate interest in knowing how our broadcasts are listened to and keeping the stream working. Accounts, forms and donations rest on the agreement you make with us when you use them. Newsletter and push notifications rest on your consent.
7. Your rights
You may ask what we hold about you, have it corrected or deleted, or object to its use. Deleting your account removes it and unlinks any listening data from it. Use the contact page for any request. You can also lodge a complaint with the Dutch data protection authority, the Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens.
8. Changes
We update this statement when what we store changes. The version and date at the top tell you which one you are reading.
